We believe in a fun, playful, and educational environment for our young visitors. Make sure you check out our large selection of children's, juvenile's and young adult's books both in fiction and non-fiction. And after you've picked out your books why not stay and play! We have puzzles, toys, puppets, coloring sheets with crayons and a Velcro storyboard set up for kids' imaginations to run wild!
‘1000 Books Before Kindergarten’ is a program designed for babies through preschoolers. Parents record the titles of the books read to their children in a notebook provided by the library when they sign up for the program. There are several incentives for the children for reading. This coming September Lisa Laird, puppet ventriloquist from Orange City, will do our entertainment and honor all those who complete the program by September 1st. It is not too late to begin the program even if your child will be a kindergartner this fall. If you read them 7 books a day, you could finish by the deadline. You can also count books read at daycare, preschool, library storytime, etc and books done on line such as from the Tumblebooks website. Stop at the library for more information and to sign up your little ones.
